When I think of Lance, the first role that comes to mind is in the movie "Aliens." Love that movie. But I have to say that my favorite role of all time is Frank Black in "Millennium." I did enjoy him in "The Invitation," which also starred Sarah-Jane Redmond who played Lucy Butler :flaming_devilgif: in "Millennium." And, it was a thrill to see him guest star in an NCIS episode, :girl_dance: which is another favorite TV series.
Lance, you're the greatest. :notworthy:

Hi Luminary!

Whilst I admit that I haven't seen all of Lance's performances to date, and some I've not seen for a while, his role as Frank Black will always be my favourite Lance Henriksen role also.

I honestly don't think Lance could ever make a character as inspirational and quite as loveable again without having the same advantage of a multi-season televisions series to allow his character to develop, but that said, you could tell from his first appearance in the pilot episode that Frank Black was going to be a superb protagonist.

Hi folks,
I have to say Bishop is certainly high on my list. I was fascinated by the character when I first saw "Aliens" and that was before I was particularly cognisant of Lance and his work. I know of him but not a great deal and it was certainly a role that made me sit up and pay attention. With the exception of Sigourney Weaver he really was the best thing in it.

Jesse Hooker and Ed Harley are two well worth a mention as well. It's true to say that whatever movie he is in the brings a gravitas to it and always delivers a 110% of himself through his performance.

PS I really ought to have come up with a funky alternative Lance-name I guess. It'll remain Eth for now till I'm suitably inspired.

First time I remember seeing Lance was in Aliens as Bishop, then as Frank in Millennium, then in Scream 3...

I should have changed my name, but I was not feeling very creative, as my vibes are going to the TIWWA chat...

P.S. Oh yeah, how could I forget Sergeant Neff in Omen II?

Bishop was indeed a great character, the whole knife trick scene has to be one of the best remembered scenes for old Bishop! I also liked Lance's roles in the other Alien spin-off films too.

Its been years since I saw the Omen films, I can't recall him at all as Sgt. Neff!

Bishop is high on my list too, and maybe number two, but Frank Black will always be number one. :notworthy:
Mark, you could be "Hooker Harley." LOL :hilarious:

Actually, I think Eth Kristen, Eth Cloke, Eth Lara, Eth Means, or the other way around with her name first, for example, "Kristen's Eth." You could simply be " The Eth Man," for starters, following "The Old Man." You might also want to consider, "Mean's Mark." Somewhat different but at least it rhythms like "Hooker Harley." :hilarious:

What fun this is. :girl_wink:

LOL Oh I got myself settled in the end. Chances are I will be Eth for a while younger longer yet but I hope the new name sticks, here at least.

The Knife Trick is indeed a very memorable moment of that film. Oddly enough I could it recently and because you are so intent on concentrating on the knife throughout I never realised that if you observe the other cast members instead it is fairly obviously that the scene has been recorded at a slow speed and sped up in post production. Watch the chap who is holding Hudson during the scene and it is really apparent.
Never noticed that before.

Frank Black aside, and this based on me having not seen a lot of Lance's films, my favourite Lance character would be the human bounty hunter in Hard Target. He and Arnold Vosloo made a memorable double act.

Well said Gonzo! That was such an enjoyable film, and you're spot on, they were an awesome cold-blooded duo!

It was done so well that it's not noticeable.

Just watched Aliens again awhile back and now ready to watch it again. As I have already stated, it is one of my all time favorites.

While I must admit, the first time I saw Lance was in Aliens, he didn't catch my eye (still drooling over Michael J. Fox on Teen Wolf --hey I was 8 years old.). It wasn't until I was living in Guangzhou, China, watching this American show called MillenniuM that Lance caught my eye. It was then that I started to try and find as much as I could about Lance. Since then, I must say, I tend to gravitate towards Lance's humanistic characters. Stuff like The Horror Show and Gunfighter's Moon. I like horror, but not interested in seeing Lance as a killer or some machine-human (The Mangler 2) concoction. I'm sure it was fun for him to play it, but I'd like to see him a little more realistically. Since realizing this, I've really enjoyed Aliens. Oh, and the closest thing I got to see Lance in a comedy was Delta Heat -which I absolutely adored. So the movies I watch constantly with Lance are: Aliens, Delta Heat, Powder, The Horror Show, Gunfighter's Moon. There are most likely more to be listed, but these are off the top of my head.

I know Lance has expressed a desire to do more comedy as he states that it isn't something consider him for and for that reason he'd like to flex his comedy muscles. Anyone who's seen him in Millennium's "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense" know that he has considerable skill in lighter scenes and he is a master at deadpan in "Somehow Satan Got Behind Me".
"Powder" is a great film isn't it? I'm glad I'm not alone in having seem that film more than once and I'm particularly taken with his work in "Omen II" I thought he gave a fantastically understated performance and one which is very chilling at the same time.

I forgot about Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense. That was the one where Lance had white blonde hair right? I loved it when he kicked open the door. I don't know why, but I thought the episode with KISS was funny too, especially when Emma had Frank sit down to watch horror movies like Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th.

Yeah that's the one. He was sporting a blonde wig for his portrayal of Rocket McGrain and the famous 'nut-punch' scene. I don't know if you recall but he appeared in HBO's "Tales From The Crypt" some years ago in an segment called "Cutting Cards". He had a fairly comedic role in that as well and if you're looking for other comedic suggestions he plays a hook-handed swamp rat, opposite Anthony Edwards, in the movie DELTA HEAT (1992) and a luckless assassin (chasing Molly Ringwald) in the movie BAJA (1996) both of which have lighter moments if not all-out-comedy.
Nice talking with you as always,
